Photoshop Project - Creating a Fictional Banknote 1st Year Project at Université de Lorraine 🇫🇷
The banknote was created as if it came from the "Mushroom Kingdom" from the Super Mario series of games. Logos were created using Adobe Illustrator in vectors and imported into the Photoshop project to make a coherent, complex and multi-layered layout.
Photo 1 – Garden View from Killalloe 3rd Year Project at University of Limerick 🇮🇪
I composed the photo using the Rule of Thirds to make the eye notice details in the background: the top-left corner of the center square shows us the stone bridge, the top-right on the other side, lets us distinguish the following charming village and its tower. On the bottom right corner, the small pond reminds us of the garden setting, and the bottom left corner emphasizes the relaxing scenery with its lush green grass. The photo was taken during sunset and exacerbates the autumn colors of the maples in the middle. To make the effect more visible thanks to photo editing, the vibrance of the scene was brought to +20 points, and the sky completely replaced as originally, a big menacing gray cloud took a large part of it. The warm colors of the sky projected on the green of the (enclosed) garden give the entire scenery a relaxing and comforting ambiance during times that can be cold.
Photo 2 – Life inside Trinity College at night 3rd Year Project at University of Limerick 🇮🇪
This photo of a building part of the Trinity College in Dublin was taken low-angled to make it seem more imposing as it actually is, and in a way more “menacing” with its historic architecture. To make the scenery more “believable” (this mansion wouldn’t be in the middle of nowhere), the sky and a tree have been integrated into the frame. The lantern present in the bottom left of the photo emitted a strong green light that I found distracting. I therefore decided to apply a black and white filter in Photoshop. That would however reduce the night-time ambience created by the beautiful stained-glass window above the entrance, illuminated from the inside. To give the windows their original glory back, I selected them in the colored calc and made them appear above the black/white filter one. Both left windows emitted a white light, so it was also modified to match the warm yellow color of the other ones. This all could represent the life that happens inside of buildings during the night, whereas
everything becomes “dead” (black and white) outside.
Photo 3 – Infinite Prairies in Switzerland 3rd Year Project at University of Limerick 🇮🇪
This photo that I took in the Appenzell region of Switzerland is composed of multiple layers of hills. The fact that both (the one where the photo is taken from and the next one) of the first front hills are very smooth make the scenery “heavenly” and takes us for a walk, an adventure in this landscape always surveyed by the long rocky mountain chain in the background. Many details can be spotted if we zoom in on the image: small family-run farms, cows and paths for hikers to enjoy the place. Giving even more depth, the plains are populated by forests, from which a tree stands out in the front as “main subject” of the image. It helps us scaling the landscape and understand how large the “playground” is. In Photoshop, only a few distractions were removed (farm fences, logs from dead trees on the ground, poles on top of the mountain…). The sky was already clear and the grass lush enough.
